So, you want to lose weight, and finally begin your journey to emotional freedom, whilst being able to treat yourself to a cake or two.
Congratulations, you are in the right place.
As we all know, obesity is getting higher each year, and despite all of the free information online, more and more people are getting frustrated at their lack of progress.
Maybe you are one of them?
Maybe you have tried a diet, only to discover that it doesn't work…
Maybe you have tried a winning diet, but it's hard to keep going…
Maybe you don't believe that diet will work, yet who can ignore the classic CICO routine?
Can I be honest with you? (And you surely must know by now…)
It's not diet that you need to be concerned about (as any decent nutricienist will admit).
Don't get me wrong, diet is crucial for losing weight. And I will be a fool to say otherwise.
But what if I were to tell you that there are some people who can scoff all sorts of junk food down, without putting on even an ounce of weight.
And trust me, these people exist.
How do I know?
I'm one of them! (and I'm not the only one)
But, before you start fuming, and cussing me out of the sky…I have a bit of a secret to tell you.
Firstly, I do watch SOME of my diet. (I'm not THAT bad).
Secondly, my greatest secret isn't so much the diet, but my metabolism.
Let me explain.
You see, the main issue with CICO is that, after a certain while, even if your calorie intake is getting less and less, you may still not be losing lose pounds…
The reason being?
Your body adapts. And it does this for its own survival.
But those with a higher than average metabolism (like me)?
It's not important. (there you are, I've said! You can hate me now 😉
I've been pretty skinny most of my life.
Now, truth be told, I did gain a few pounds one Christmas, years ago, and that was it.
I lost it a few weeks later, and vouched never to let it get out of hand again (I ate a LOT of junk food that Christmas, and that is all I'm going to say.)
Anyway, enough about me, and now onto you.
A higher metablolism is KEY to your journey.
And we will start it off with HIIT, which stands for High-Intensity Interval Training.
But why HIIT?
Because, by far, it is the most effective metabolism boosting exercise known to man. And that says something.
Put simply, it's all about High intensity, but in short bursts!
That is, you raise you heartbeat in the fastest time possible, and then you bring it back down.
If that means you have to rest for a few minutes, so be it.
Then you rinse and repeat. Bring your heartbeat back up, then bring it back down.
And you do this several times (I can do it around 10-15 times, but then again, I'm now a sprinter. You may have to do it a bit less)
Why?
Becuase it helps increase your ever-important VO2 max levels (how much the oxygen in your body is being used more efficiently) as well as increase your metabolism.
And that's not all.
Studies show that it also increases your Human Growth Hormone substantially during the deep part of your sleep. (that's the youth hormone to you and me).
Human Growth Hormone is responisble for many things, but in most cases, keeping your skin looking tight and youthful, as well as helping you build muscle as well as helping with your mental health.
2. Weights.
Believe it or not, lifting weights is excellent for increasing your metabolism!
Why wouldn't it be?
Think of it…
What are you doing when you are lifting a light weight?
Making your muscles work. And where is that energy going to be coming from?
Precisely!
There is a knack to this, however.
Try always to go for a light weight, and tense your arms. This puts more pressure on your muscles to perform. Not only that, but you will be increasing your mind-muscle connection.
Now, there is a concern that lifting weights will make you bulky.
Whilst understandable, this concern is unjustified.
Quite simply, liftng weights will help tone you up. It WON'T bulk you up.
(You need to be on a specific diet for that to happen, plus you need to take the relevant supplementation.)
But lifting weights 3 times a week, even for just 10 minutes, will help you burn more calories due to a general increase in metabolism.
3. Blood Flow Restriction.
Ok…
This is a bit of a funny one, because this so unheard off, yet is so brilliantly effective at losing those pounds (as well as gaining you decent muscle as well…two for the price of one).
Anyway, here goes!
What we are going to do, is to put a band around the upper part of the arm, next to the arm-pit (but not on the arm-pit, just next to it).
We will then tighten the band enough to start seeing a few veins getting bigger.
Then, we will pinch our finger to do a simple test to see if the blood flow is ok. If the, ‘whiteness' of the pinch returns to normal colour, you're good to go! If this doesn't happen, loosen those bands.
Assuming we are good to go, you do the following.
For 10 minutes (total time), you do your exercise with a light weight, or resistance band.
- First time, you lift up for 30 reps. You rest for 30 seconds.
- Second time, your lift up for 15 reps. You rest for 30 seconds.
- Third time, you lift up for 15 reps. you rest for 3 seconds.
- Forth time, you lift up for 15 reps, you rest for 30 seonds (your arms will be tired by this time)
- And if you can do it, you do a fifth time, and do 15 reps, and you rest for 30 seonds.
(For clarity, when you rest for 30 seconds, you DON'T take the band of your arm.)
Why does this help?
It helps recruit more and more of the fast-twitch muscle fibres, and uses a lot of calories, while increasing our metabolism.
And you know the wierd thing?
You feel it!
And I mean that!
Adding this to your arsenal will help burn those pounds off. Almost a gurantee!
There is just ONE word of caution…
Make sure that you don't have any serious heart conditions. Whilst relatively safe, always check with your doctor/GP incase your heart is not cut out for this. Always be safe then to be sorry.
To keep this article short, I will quickly go over the next ones, starting with your Thyroid…
4. Your Thyroid
An underactive Thyroid gland (Hypothyroidism) can severely limit weight-loss progress, and can impact your metabolism. And this is because there's not enough hormones to help transport your body's materials, inc. ‘waste'.
Just like blood flow restriction training, always check with your doctor/GP that your Thyroid is working fine first, before attempting ANY weight-loss programme.
5. Water
Believe it or not, drinking water 30 minutes before a major meal helps you lose weight, and this is because it helps you consume lesser calories. (hence the feeling of making you feel, ‘stuffed').
Studies are showing that this may help increase your general metabolic rate, which is crucial to weight-loss.
6. Nordic Walking
This twist to normal walking actually helps you burn over 60 calories. This is due to a lot of muscles being used. And that is not all, nordic walking also helps when you are coming back from injury, as well as losing that fat.
7. Green Tea
This popular beverage also helps raise the metabolic rate, as the green tea contains Thermogenic properties. And not only that, but it also helps speed up the fat oxidation.
Now, dont get me wrong, there are other ways you can help your metabolism and lose that weight. If you do want to find out more information, click here if you want to find out why some women prefer drinking smoothies to not only help them look younger, but also to lose weight fast.
And if you want to boost your weight loss journey even more, consider using this amazing, Japanese tonic, which is hot right now.
